I love to put surprises in the scarves I make. This scarf has many! I began with a lovely habotai piece of silk fabric with a gorgeous sheen. After hand dyeing the piece with a beautiful logwood dye, I then used black merino wool to nuno felt it into a scarf. The silk fabric was so beautiful I wanted it to really show throughout. The back of the scarf is 3 sections of the beautiful scarf and can be worn on the outside if you choose. the wool side I tore strips of the silk so they would hand over the side and create interest and flow. I then added so accents that include wool and silk "buttons" that I created by making felted rolls and cutting them. They are then felted into the piece and become part of the scarf. Silk fibers and mawattas ( silk cocoons) were also added.
