The silk is called charmeuse, a heavier silk with a beautiful luster. I stared by eco-dyeing the scarf with geranium leaves in an iron steam bath. I then used the shibori kumo technique to bind the silk prior to dipping it in an indigo bath. This technique acts as a resist so that not all the indigo can penetrate through the silk allowing for a beautiful design. It also allowed so of the eco-dyed leaves to show. A beautiful scarf which will be stunning with any outfit, from jeans to a little black dress!
