I always amazes me how each plant creates a different color! Depending on the mordant I use and the time of year I pick the plants can change the color completely. This paj silk scarf was eco-dyed using a iron mordant and the piece was steamed for over 3 hours! This process is what affixes the tannin colors from the plant on to the silk. Eucalyptus leaves, the spent flowers from coral bells and asparagus fronds were the plants I chose. The eucalyptus turned an amazing orange, the coral bell flowers a purple-gray and the asparagus fronds a delicate lime green. Truly a one of a kind piece!
