Collection: Silk Eco-dyed Scarves

Eco-dyeing is the process of laying plant materials between the silk and a resist and rolling them into a bundle.  These bundles are then steamed for several hours which helps transfer some of the tannins from the plants to the fiber.  The colors vary in part because of the mordants I use to help fix the color to the fiber and the natural tannins in the plants. 

The results are gorgeous wearable art.  Each one is unique and different.  The scarves can be hand washed in a mild soap and warm water both then hung to dry,  Touch up with an iron and you are ready to go!
